07 GSX-R 1000
« on: September 22, 2006, 03:30:00 pm »
Facts:

- three selectable engine maps, on the right hand grip (wet, sport, normal)
- hydraulic clutch actuator
- revised brakes with slightly outboard rotors for better cooling
- three way adjustable suspension (two compression, one rebound) like 750 rear
- revised body styling
- revised and updated frame
- BT-015 tires fitted as stock
- dual pipes (to meet EU/CA noise standards and emissions)
- traction control as standard feature
- projector light for high beam
- adjustable footpeg positions
- electronically controlled steering damper

Rumours:

- honest 175 horsepower at the wheel with 85lb/ft torque
- slightly better aerodynamics than K5/6
- replacing the pipes will be simple but expensive (as 06 r6, 06 gsx-r 600/750)
- rear brake placement makes changing tires a bitch
- new R1 will have a quickshifter and similar specs with R6-ish frame

Hondas are boring.   :P :P

I'm reading conflicting reports on the B-King.  Is it a supercharged 1300... or a 1500cc naturally aspirated bike?   Several sites that should know disagree.  >:(

Well it's not as ugly as some of the 07 pics that have been floating around......is it just me or are the new models coming out (cbr 600rr, zx6/10/14) getting uglier? I also heard the production model boosted-hybusa is boosted in name only that it's not actually supercharged as originally designed.

If it's upside down and burning, you've gone too fast....

I hear conflicting reports still on what the B-King has.  I hear supercharged, and I hear 1500cc.  :/

And yeah, the bikes aren't really getting prettier... I like a certain elegance to the bike lines, like the 916.  But, you can't argue with how they work.

The new gixx looks pretty sick.  I'm not a fan of the twin pipes though.  As far as the B-King goes, I like the look of it, it's definately gonna be a bad-ass machine.  Hopefully a supercharged bad-ass machine.

A few more tidbits

New, more powerful, ECU - supposedly 4x faster
O2 sensor allows FI to operate in "closed loop" (self correcting) mode at cruise
New frame puts the rider further forward
Reduced offset triple clamps increase trail
Half-inch longer wheel base
New suspension linkage
10% bigger radiator (same as increase from K4 to K5 by the way)
Larger engine intake ports
2mm larger exhaust valves
12-hole vs. 4-hole injectors - makes for finer, "mistier" fuel/air mixture
More "spokes" on front brake carrier
Rear brake caliper above the axle vice
Calalyst in mid-pipe (not in mufflers)
