Riding Restaurants
« on: March 06, 2005, 03:27:09 pm »
I thought it would be a great idea to set up a thread to tell other riders about our favourite restaurants along our riding routes.  After all, after four hours of riding, nothing tastes better than a drink and a burger.  I'll start off with a few:

In Kingston, West End of Town, #2 Hwy:  Ian's Kitchen & Soda Shop.  Fantastic place for lunch or breakfast, Ian's has an international breakfast menu and serves many spicy delights such as Peri-Peri fries and the Atomic Burgers (I like the Carribean Jerk).

In Bowmanville, King St: The Village Inn.  Excellent patio and good Irish food.  About 15km from Mosport, which makes it good to know.  website here

In Deseronto, on #2 Hwy: The Hungry Belly.  Simply the best Canadian-style breakfasts and sandwiches around.  Most breakfasts under $5 and hard to get it all in.

In Huntsville, East Side of Town: 3 Guys & A Stove.  Very different, healthy selection with plenty of easy favourites and some really spicy dishes such as the Blackened Peameal sandwich.  website here

2km from Picton, East End, on 49 Hwy: Hidden Bistro.  Better for dinners than lunches, but overall an excellent French and eclectic menu, with a great salad selection and good atmosphere.  website here

In Sharbot Lake, West End, on Hwy 7: Sunsets Restaurant.  One of the best rider's retreats, you can find a great meal, ice cream and good company here.  Sunsets is owned by two certified motorcycle nuts, and you'll be made to feel welcome, riding boots and all.  website here

In Arnprior, Winner's Circle: Prior - Sports Bar.  A place for rowdy, hungry riders to stop in and get a stomach full.  Accomodating for riders.

In Calabogie, Mall & Flea Market: The Buckhorn Roadhouse.  Friendly to riders and the food is very hearty.  An excellent lunch or afternoon stop.  website here

In Gananoque, King St.: Bravo Family Restaurant.  Don't seem to mind you stomping through in full gear, and the atmosphere is laid back.

In Wilno, just east of Barry's Bay: Wilno Tavern.  Great original Polish meals as well as Canadian fare.  Again, friendly to riders and very accomodating.  website here

In Griffith, Centennial Lake Road: Eagle's Rest.  Less of a restaurant and more of a general store, but you can get home-baked goods here and lots of other supplies.   website here

Near Marysville, 49 Hwy: Mike's Restaurant.  70's-Italian style restaurant at the Sunoco station right near the 401.  This is where you'll want to visit on your way to the Shannonville track.

Join in and tell us about your favourite restaurants.  I'm making this thread "sticky" so it will always be at the top of the Rides & Hookups forum to help people find what they are looking for.

Ler's not forget the Boathouse Restaurant in Rockport, nice patio overlooking the thousand islands.

The Kaladar Hotel at the intersection of Hwy 41 and 7 good cheap breakfasts with lots of atmosphere.

The Hollyrood Steak house north of Bellville serves a great breakfast as well.

Wimpy's Dinner in Oshawa absolutly the biggest burgers I have ever seen.

In Maynooth at the end of Elephant Lake Road, Granny's Diner, on the left , just a block up the hill from the gas station. Homemade goodness, generous portions.

In Port Hope, the Railside restaurant, on the east end of town on hwy 2. Greek, Italian, Canadian food, excellent quality, generous quantity and deadly desserts.

I often stop at a little spot in Tamworth called "The Bakery"l, baked goods, as well as great soup and sandwiches. Eat in or small patio you can park the bike right beside.
'Nother good place is "Mike's", at the Sunoco at Hwy #49 and 401 in Marysville.  Great dinerlike food, daily specials are my favorite, decent prices.
I'll think of more soon as I sent this

I think that Ian's Kitchen is closed and replaced with some kind of curry place??

Just found some good road food.  Hwy #41 about 30k North of Napanee, (Beaver Lake)  In Erinsville at the general store you can get "southern pulled pork sandwiches"   2 for $5, very good.  Mmmmm, I want another.
