While I agree they should be dinged hard for going that fast, taking the bikes seems unnecessary.  If you speed you take your chances.  I agree with Shaman though.  Why bother stopping?  If they catch you you're gonna be in just as much crap (almost) .

Yep.

Although for riding like that anywhere near town, they're idiots.

Shamen are you trying to tell me you never went 100 mph down front road in front of INVISTA?
I drove to picton w/ you one day and I think we went thru a few small villages @ that speed??

Heck no I didn't.  In 50/60 zones I slow down to something a lot more reasonable.   I know of one spot marked 50 that I get a bit... frisky on, but it was AFTER i'd passed the reason for it (a school).  Grew up around there, so I know what to look for, it's just that corner signed.

Other than that, in low speed/high population zones, I'm pretty dang careful.  Anyone that rides with me regularly can tell you that.

First stupid move-going that fast in town.  Second stupid move, the law was JUST passed.  What the hell did they think would happen.
I'm not saying I don't speed but I guess I'm of the opinion that 50km over the POSTED limit is excessive and yes I think you should be charged if caught.  Consequences now are that you lose your vehicle.  Makes me think twice and check the speedo.  Perhaps that's the whole idea.
When people say why bother stopping, that's YOUR choice, just as it is YOUR choice to go more than 50km over the speed limit and you deal with the aftermath.

Personally, I think it will make some of us ride faster.  The faster you're going when you run into the police, the quicker you can go faster still.  It's a sad commentary on laws that are so heinous that may cause more (or larger) problems than they might solve.

The question is can you do it safely??  Some of you, yes I believe you can.  It's the ones that can't and try that are going to kill themselves or someone else.  I don't disagree that this is going to cause problems but I guess it comes back to part of what Ron19 said

sorry you are correct when we were in populated areas we all slowed down. That I will do myself anyways, I have kids also. However when we were open road we went, I think a little over 50 over the speed limit.

Q:is front road a heavly populated area, once you get infront of dupont & invista I think not.

I am sure they had no idea of the new law, Hell most people in Ontario dont know about it YET.
And 50 over the speed limit would be much better if the speed limits were what they should be. (+ 20 easy)
Not the speed limits from 20-30 years ago when cars and bikes went straight and could not stop w/ a crap...
Cheers

You know what...the police know it too, but they still enforce those laws. :(

I think these laws are going to radicalize the sportbike segment, because eventually the only folks left riding will be those who stay at/under the speed limit (mostly the cruiser crowd), AND those few sportbike riders who have no problem twisting the throttle when they get lit up. I could see this leading to a general ban on sportbikes in the long run, since those who run will get away on a consistent basis and aggravate the police to no end.
