I went to B&R today. They have risen their prices, of course this is normal with businesses, however in my opinion I think there are other places I'd rather go to buy parts. I'm having mixed feelings though.
I've had good business dealings with them in the past, and have had parts thrown in for a few extra bucks, just because he/they were in a good mood. Today was different. I called in advance, asked for the part I needed (signal light), was quoted $15.00. A bit steep considering I only needed the lens, however I enjoy going and looking around.
When I got there, everything was fine. The owner (I can't remember his name), sent me to the back barn area where the Yamaha's are kept. I took off the signal light, and made my way back to the office.
There he proceeded to haggle the price with me, he said the piece I that was holding was quite nice (or something like that). He wanted $20.00 for it.... normally I'd be fine with that, however all I needed was the lens, and I spoke to him about it not more than an hour ago, which he said was $15.00. He tried to bargain the price with me, from 20 to 17.50... I wouldn't budge, 15 said and done. Finally as we got up to the office, he looked in and said to the guy behind the counter "15 for the light".
Now, to post this over 5 dollars is just down right miserable. However, if it would have been a part that was $25 more, would have been justified. So, on to my next part.
I was quoted tires, and brakes. The tires (low quality to high quality), I asked for a price on medium. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel the price of tires was quite high, around $350 + tax, for medium quality tires, and they can't balance them. Brakes were $32/set. This seems high to me. So as stated in my topic, I have mixed feelings. I've gone there a few times, since they opened, and never had a bad dealing before, but it seems his business is picking up (building new builds - storage facility, and now is listed as "B&R Cycle - Power-sports"). I originally went there to save money.
I don't know, I feel like I'm ranting. Anyhow, I welcome criticism, however I'd really like to know other people's opinions and dealings with B&R.
Thanks.
