I was in there once....I don't know much about them at all, infact my first thought towards them was that they were a generic rip-off brand bike...

The whole store gave me a "generic rip-off" feeling. The one thing i do like, is anyone looking at the Honda 125cc sportbike would like the Hyosung beginner, as it's a 250cc engine in a 600cc frame.... all the big bike look, as 90% of all cbr 125 owners complain about....eventually.

Hyosung is not a generic ripoff, it's the leading manufacturer for bikes in East Asia and most of the East actually. Just google it, it's a rather large manufacturer. Frankly, I'm just happy to see a new store move into town... get some competition to drive prices down a bit.

Just don't buy one older than 2007.  The older motors are time-bombs in the hands of someone who likes to ride with a little zip.

If you're headed towards the west end on bath road from the kingston center, it'll be on your right at the corner of <blank> (my mind is blanking on the name... ugh) and bath. It's the second or third light after Sir John A.

What's your source on this Shaman?

I know two guys on the interwebs that have lost three motors between them.  Both got replacement late-2007 motors and have beat on them without problems.

true enough, but you could probably pull off stories like this for any of the big manufacturers

the interweb is not a broad-sweeping record of what is actually going on product-replacement wise.

secondly, the motor on the 650 is a blueprint of the sv650... hyosung buys many of it's motors from suzy

just because it's not one of the big-four doesn't mean it's terrible, it just means it has something to prove, but you have to give it a chance before it can prove anything

No, these aren't stories from a forum, they're people I know.  Anyway, a 2008+ spec bike should be fine.  As for the motors, they are not an exact copy of the SV650.

You work there? 8)

All i know is when i went in there, there were Hyosung streetbikes that looked like great beginner bikes, and Hyosung bikes that looked like a v-rod duplicates...  and that's not a negative opinion, just what i noticed. Not to mention most of the gear in there i've never heard of.

...I think i got a bad first impression from the rumor mill, as i was told (before the store opened) this was going to be a Harley/Sportbike Shop with big cash support that was going to take on MSP.

I think Harley has a protected region thing going on, so another Harley dealership in the area is unlikely.  Wish they would pick up Triumph or Ducati, but Triumph is being a whiney bitch these days from what I'm told.

^^Think again.

Kingston was (could still when finally legalized) going to be the first home of an Agusta dealer.
