Ya, I'd do that trip again via the USA, but way too much going on for the rest of this summer to be able to get that much time off again.
Funniest thing that happened was stopping for gas and a cold drink in the middle of nowhere: A minivan pulls up with an older retired couple and a thirty-something couple pile out and the younger guy comes over to me and starts talking - in a thick over-the-pond accent about the beautiful weather, and the cabot trail for riding a bike....then, seeing the Triumph patch on my jacket, asks me if i like Triumphs. So i said yes, my other bike back home is one that i just bought not too long ago and i'm loving it. Then he says "what do you think of the Daytona 675?" and i said that's what i bought for a track toy and i love it. Then he smiles and says, back home, in England, he works for Triumph and was part of the development team for the 675....so i told him he had a dream job and he says - ya, it's pretty sweet. They gave him a pre-release 675 to road test for several months before while they were gearing up for production. How's that for an awesome job and company vehicle? Anyhow it was cool to meet someone like that in the most unlikely place - would have been cool to talk with him for much longer to hear more about the development and production side of things, but we were heading in opposite directions.
I did take some pics i'll try to post later, but most of them really don't do justice to the landscape in reality.
