Hola everyone
« on: August 10, 2009, 07:59:17 pm »
Ok... I'm not new. I've been a member of this forum for a couple of years, and a couple of you will probably remember me from a few rides we had. I figured I'd drop in and introduce myself as "new" once more since I haven't been around and I'm sure there are a lot more members in this group.

Despite bring a long time member, I haven't been active on this forum at all the last 2 summers, and have hardly been riding at all (a whopping 4000 km on my bike in the last 2 1/2 summers). The wife and I split up a little over 2 years ago, and I've since had sole custody of our son since. And I have no family or reliable sitters, so couldn't really get out much. I was mostly using my bike for commuting to work ore than anything else.

I've been trying to get my son interested in riding, but he was too scared, so didn't want to force him. I wanted to let him develop the taste for it on his own. Well this year, he's interested. He asked for a helmet for his 10th birthday last month, and we've been out a few times since. He loves it. We're enjoying riding together so much that I've sold my '01 GS500 that had been my toy for the past 3 years and picked up an '04 CBR600RR today. I'm hoping to get out on a few Thursday night rides with you guys once again (Saturdays rarely work for me), and with my little guy as my passenger.

Looking forward to riding with you guys (again).

Sorry to hear about your personal troubles.  Nobody wants that.

However, sounds like you and your son have found something you like to do together.  Lots of new things going on in Kingston, including two big show-and-shine events a week that weren't around two years ago.  You should come out, I bet your son would really like the Wednesday night one.

Well, things are good for me. The issues knocked me off track for a while, but still been pretty active in all my other stuff like band, airsoft, etc. Just haven't had the time to squeeze in the riding until now. But with the new bike and the fact my son loves coming along as a passenger, I think I'll be enjoying the rest of the summer on 2 wheels a lot more.

I pick up the bike on Wednesday after work. I won't be able to ride much since I have band practice that night, but weather permitting, I'm out for a few hours on Thursday night.

Nice.  I've been playing bass in a little group for a couple years now, too.  Keeps me outta trouble.  Would like to do something a bit more challenging, but then I'm a rocker from way back, too. :)

I've made the switch to bass as well, actually. Been playing bass in my current band, Society's Sorrow, for the last 2 years now. Also got stuck with singing duties because we couldn't find anyone else that could do it better. It's been fun. We're actually playing at the Motosports Plus Garage Band show this Saturday the 15th, and again at Barnone that same evening. Should be a good time, and interesting to do a double header.
