Lid Question
« on: March 28, 2005, 09:52:50 pm »
Time to replace my Arai Quantum/f with a new Arai (sorry Shoei fans!)

Anyone with any experience re fit of the Quantum vs. Astral or Signet?  Latter two have the graphics I like better than the new Quantum.  Tried on a Signet at Tony's on the weekend ... too bad there's nobody in town with a range to try on.

thanks in advance

Yeah.  I'm headed to Good Times in Ottawa this week or next to look at a new lid and some new boots.  You pretty much have to go there or T.O. to try on a variety of helmets, gloves, etc. :(

I had a Signet... my understanding of Arai's products is that the main difference between the helmets has to do with head sizes and shapes, although features are a bit different too.

P.S. I found a Shoei I really liked... had I not had a Shark on order right then, I probably would have bought it.  Worth trying on the different brands.

Quantum = round shaped head
Signet = egg shaped head(no offence to signet wearers)
I have both a Quantum and a Signet. For me, the Quantum is the better fit. I didn't know this back when I bought the signet :o. The Astral is a fairly new line and is aimed for somewhere in between.

Thanks for the responses ... may go to T.O this weekend with Grunt to check out several models ... that's my understanding about Arai too ... round vs oval etc. ... my problem is I'm not sure what shape my head is ... I only have 1 so it's hard to compare ... although I have been called a s#!thead on more than 1 occasion!

cheers

you think you got problems ?   This rider needs a special sticker on her lid that says  this side forward... sheesh.

If you would like some company for the drive, give me a shout.

Or go to the Bike Show in mid-April in Toronto -  most of the lid dealers will be there,  and will probably have better
prices than Ottawa !
