So... I haven't heard ANYTHING about the rally from the locals. What happened?
Opinions will vary with expectations.
Personally had an OK time ...not fantastic ... but OK
Agree ... police everywhere ... doin' their job ... last year we watched the lads catwalk in front of the hotel ... this year we watched the officers point their radar guns and warned riders approaching the hotel ... i.e. minimal stunting ... minimal entertainment ... and less hotel parking lot shenanigans than last year ... but the tire smoke did help to keep the bugs down ...
Vendors? Not enough, given the opportunity ... don't understand why more aren't there plying their wares ... hope Miss Behavin' did Ok for the event ...
Thunder Ride ... always a hoot ... nothin like ridin' through a town with several hundred other sport bikes and an appreciative townsfolk ... can't say I agree with it bein' too slow ... it's a massive poser cruise after all, rev all you want, but keep the clutch in ... always a high point, in my mind ...
Dyno runs ... can't get enough ... even a blind person can appreciate the horsepower and the smell ...
Entertainment ... forget it ... make your own in the cage at Don Cherry's!
The company ... great ... talked to several fellow 'Bird owners like I'd known them for years ... and it was good to re-connect with some of the folks at the hotel to swap stories and talk bikes ...
The ride up and back ... the best part ... a most talented bunch of riders (get my drift?) and some pretty decent roads ... nothin' like the blast of heat comin' off a fresh stretch of blacktop ...
Bottom line summary? ... I think personally I'd trade a trip to the Gap for a trip to the rally next year, hands down ... anytime! Keep me in mind!
