$1,100 for tires? Oh yes.
« on: May 13, 2005, 11:38:34 am »
So I had my bike into Tony's to get an oil change after my NC trip and ordered some new tires.

So they try to place an order for the exact tires and are told that only Suzuki has the exact tires for roughly the next year.  They're BT014s but a special profile (similar to the CBR1000RR but I'll get to that).

Price?  $608 for the rear tire, $448 for the front tire.  Taxes not yet figured.

FEEPIN' CREEPIN' MUTHABLEEPIN' @#$@#

... calm down ...

So we find out that the CBR1000RR has a similar profile BT014... and get pricing for it.  Approximately $525 for the same set of tires.  Still pricey but riding a liter supersport bike isn't for the thrifty, now is it?  My last ones went 600km under 6,000 RPM then 1400km with a fire lit under them and are trashed... so this matters. :)

That's nutz!!!!! >:( I guess I'll keep my "Old Relic" then. Cheep plugs and relatively cheaper tires.

Heh.  Well, I don't think you're getting BT014s any cheaper but I could be wrong.

Luckily it's not every day that I ride the Tail of the Dragon.  (Is that lucky actually?  hrm..)

I went with the CBR1000RR version of the BT014s.  They're almost identical.

I agree, riding the Tail of the Dragon is worth a set of tires any day. I'm so envious.
