Bike Mechanics
« on: May 16, 2005, 11:52:57 am »
Ok,  hypothetically, let's say a local rider has a Corporate sponsor that wants him to ride for them. But he has to put together a  team that includes some local mechs to seal the deal.   Regardless of bike make,  who (mechanics) in Kingston, does this rider want to have on his team ?   Experience, knowledge, know-how, creativity, availability, etc.

I would guess that depends on the level.  If it's a national superbike level, the mechanics would have to be top-notch engine builders and chassis engineers.  To a lesser degree that's true also of superstock bikes.

If we're talking vintage or amateur teams, then probably an average mechanic with some certifications will do.

Of course, this is all my opinion.  I think it depends on the sponsor and the level of commitment they offer.

I know Jeff at  Performance Shed is Diablo Suzuki's mechanic. He does the tuning for Jeff Williams. Also, I met a fellow a few years ago who tuned for Honda Canada. He wrenched for Steve Crevier. He too is local. I have talked to other people since that have confirmed that Creviers mechanic live in K-town. Is that what you are looking for??.
