Helmets
« on: February 11, 2005, 10:47:53 am »
Well,  I've narrowed down my search for a helmet to these three (all modulars)

1.  Nolan 100E
2.  HJC CL-Max
3.  Vega Summit XPV

Any advice,  experience, comments,  suggestions ?

Is there a big safety difference between these DOT hats and the Shoei's / Arai's out there,
because the price gap sure is big..

I'm on my second Nolan and I'm very happy with it.

The modular helmets may be convenient but there is more wind noise to content with.  I perfer the Shoei RF1000 helmet.  The ventilation is great, it has very little wind noise and it is very light weight.
Now, that's just my opinion.  8)

A friend of mine -- year-round commuter, iron-butt finisher -- is on his second or third N100-series Nolan. Loves it. Says it goes well with his cup-holder.

I'd think that with earplugs, the modular would be no big deal.

More worrying is that I don't think any of them have Snell ratings.

Just my 2 cents, but i have had shoei's,then switched to they arai and by far the best fitting helmet i have ever worn. The price is there for a reason.I think you can't go wrong with a hjc though.
