I think you need to borrow a torque wrench. As i recall, the properly torqued axle bolt sets the fork separation distance and then the pinch bolts keep it there. Over torquing the axle will cause drag on the wheel and may cause bearing damage eventually if not corrected. You're probably in the right neighborhood if the wheel spins freely while up on the wheel stand, but it's still worth peace of mind to torque it. Hopefully you'll be back on the road for Thursday eve or the weekend ride.
