August 6st Mini-Gatineau Trip
« on: June 20, 2005, 11:52:17 pm »
O.K. gang,

I am just going to toss out a "bone" and see where it takes us. I am proposing we "all" get together for a mini weekend trip to the Gatineau hills. I will give you the facts and the rest of the trip is open to suggestions regarding the "route" we take, where we stay etc..

The Facts:

Saturday August 6st to August 7th Sunday night
(Weather pending of course)

Departure    Saturday August 6st

- meet at Tim Horton's for 8:00 am depart no later then 9:00 am

- ride up to the Gatineau hills, ride as much as we can with appropriate lunch stops etc...

- check into a fairly inexpensive Motel somewhere

Sunday

-ride lots more...have fun

- come home sometime Sunday evening

As you can see the only "facts" are the dates. Just sign up if you can make it. Hopefully most of you can come. As to the exact route and where we will stay please post any suggestions. I too will check into some possible routes but again if you have an idea and/or know the area please "post" your idea. We do have a few weeks to plan it and make it as "fun" a ride as possible.

Secondly, I do suggest we keep the speed at moderate "pace", we have a lot of riders of different skill and comfort levels and it would be nice to make it "fun" for all. I suggest we do whatever possible to keep the "group" together at all times. No harm in a few "burst" of fun but lets not "loose" each other. Lets ride the "pace" ....(Steve you might want to post that article again?)

So c'mon...sign up, share your thoughts as to how we should get there (route) and we will all kind of go with the plan that sounds best. If the weather "craps" out, we will just re-schedule.

Hiya Oliver, I'm definitely in and i'm quite sure Renee and Jo will join as well.   That will be a super fun weekend....I can feel it already  ;) .   One suggestion - we could stay downtown Ottawa...I know the girls and I will share a room.  Have a nice dinner and Party the night away somewhere in the By Market.  I know a real nice Latino Dance Bar if anyone is into that.  We could ride parts of Gatineau park on the Saturday then some more on the way back on Sun.   I will look at the map and check with my friends in Ottawa who already rode through the park.   MTF

:)

Hi Elena,

That already sounds good to me. As I said, my idea was to "toss a bone" and let people (such as yourself) come up with a route, where to stay etc.... if you have a plan, lets go for it. All I can say is I will be there. I do think we should "definitely" have the route pretty much planned out, so that we can really enjoy ourselves rather the getting lost  ::) I really would like to soak in the scenery and do it at a "fun for all" pace.

Please post your suggested details on where and how to get there etc.. we should probably be on a  "loose" time schedule as well during the ride. Just my 2 cents worth  ;D

Cheers.

Definately in for the ride, not so sure about the latin dancing part, but ya never know -- if there is enough alcohol involved it could happen....

Hiya,  I'll check out some maps and get info on the park and will get back with a plan that we could all look at.  There's definitely lots of options.  See y'all soon :-)

Hey people...  It looks like I have this weekend off and it sounds like a good time so as long as you don't mind a "non sport bike rider" tagging along for the ride... count me in.   :P

Somehow because there are a number of sportbike riders here, people think it's a resource for sportbikes.  Not so!

We do have to put together a list of attending people soon so that we can let the lodges know, otherwise we might find ourselves sleeping out under the stars.

Shaman:

Actually.. I am aware that this is not just a sportbike rider resource... The comment was intended to be a joke but ah well.  8)

The reason it comes across that way is likely 'cause most of the people posting messages appear to drive sportbikes so sometimes those of us who don't start to wonder.. not much you can do about that though... I guess we just need to speak up more often.  :P

There's got to be another joke in there somewhere, but I'm too tired to come up with it. :)

Hiya, I'll be in Ottawa for the weekend, so I will be doing a recce ...

LOL. The first thing that came to mind when I read that was someone riding an OCC theme bike looking like a Coyote LAV with a sensor mast on the back. :D
