I doubt anyone will return them because of that. I know I wouldn't...it will still kick but and is the most advanced 600 cc Supersport ever made for the public.

Advanced doesn't always mean good.  I've read two articles now that have rated it as just like the old R6 with a bit more power.  I want to like this bike (and I do anyway), but I'm not so sure that the hype will meet the expectations.

On the street,16,500 or 17,500 redline makes no difference. There is no reason to get concerned about this unless perhaps you're trying to catch Peris, EBoz or Disalvo.  :o
As it stands right now, if I were in the market for a new bike the, R6 would be my first choice. However I can't make an accurate judgement until my first ride on one. Come on Summer!!!

Yamaha did the only smart think they could by "offering a buy back". This was probably sound advice from their corporate lawyers to avoid the possibility of multiple lawsuits.

I'm sure not too many people will return their R6. The difference between 17.5 and 16 will not keep you from enjoying the bike. No one can compare between redline numbers and fun factor.

So the ZX12 didn't beat the Hyabusa in the top speed department. That's not what I'm thinking about when I'm on that monster Kawasaki. 8)

The 'Busa still reigns supreme huh?  Can't say I'm surprised.

The Kawi's a pretty god looking bike though.  Except those mirrors are awful!   ;D
