It's March! Time for some announcements.
The Kingston Riding Community is coming along very well. The resource seems to have mostly interested those riders who are oriented towards sport riding, however luckily there are many riders of cruising and touring orientations to balance them out. They're just not as noisy!

So, we're all busy this time of the year, and I'll get straight to the announcements:
March Get-TogetherI'd like to tentatively suggest a get-together in March for the third or last week of March. I'd further like to suggest that we get together at Raxx, where we can shoot a little pool after the meet-and-greet. I have a little "official" business (I use the word loosely, this is not a club!) for those of you who want to volunteer for the Newbie Ride - see next message.
Please get back to me (Shaman) if you plan to attend.
Planning for the Newbie RideA number of the more experienced riders here at the Kingston Riding Community (including myself) have expressed some interest in leading a day-long "Newbie Ride" for those riders new to the area or new to riding in general.
The proposal is that a few of the more accomplished Kingston area riders lead an easy ride loosely based on a discussion yet to be had - perhaps over to Prince Edward County, north through Moscow, to Westport and return on #10. If the group is still game, perhaps a ride over towards Charleston Lake. Just a suggestion, more discussion amongst the volunteers is needed. The idea here is to show inexperienced riders some nice, relatively quiet roads and introduce them to the community of Kingston riders.
So far we have at least two volunteers for the ride:
- Steve (shaman)
- Ian (flash)
It would be good to have a few more experienced riders, at least, so that we could run groups with a leader and a follower, that way we can manage traffic somewhat better. If we have enough people show up for it, it would be best to split into smaller groups.
Tentative date: third weekend of April. Mark calendars!
Business CardsYes, I will have some business cards to hand out at the get-together unless something goes badly wrong. These are not really "business" cards, more like something you can hand out to riders that you meet, if they ask you anything about the web site or the community.
XPerTech Sportbike Accessories - 2006 VendorAs you may have noticed, Xpertech is advertising on the forum and offers a range of accessories for your motorcycle. What you may not know is that to advertise on the forum, a non-profit service which accepts no money of any sort, a vendor must provide a product or service worth at least $100 MSRP to the forum membership, to be raffled off at a general meeting. We'll do that at one of the general get-togethers, perhaps this one. Don't miss your chance.
Also, at the moment, Xpertech is offering their "Speedohealer" product at a discount for forum members. If you are looking to correct your speedometer readings, or you are considering changing the stock gearing of your bike and will not have accurate speed readings as a result, then this is a good product for you, and it's good deal until the end of April.
A description and review of the product here:
http://www.kingstonriders.org/forum/index.php/topic,607.0.htmlI think that's it for now. By the way, if anyone gets an error out of the forum on occassion, don't panic. There is a known bug. I'm hoping it will be repaired soonest, but I don't have an ETA on it just yet. FYI.
