That happened to me last year. Around this time in 2005, Shamen, Slotman, and I went out for a ride out picton way... I remember doing a stint where I pushed my little 600 really hard through some nice twisties just to keep up to Shaman on the 1000. By the end of the summer, I had traded my 600 in on a 1000 and now I ride with the big boys....  My friends keep complaining about how hard they work their bikes just to stay at the same cruising speed as me....  600 cc - 160Km = 7/8000rpm...   1000 cc - 160 Km = 4/5000rpm....

Not the newer 1000.  160km/h is more like 7,200 RPM.  The upshot is it takes off like a scalded cat even in sixth at that RPM. :)   But hey, I would never do those kind of speeds on a public road, ever, honest injun.

Hey Gixxed,

I'm just riding in a warm winter jacket.   Keeps me warm but very cautious too.  Gonna probably get the Balistic Nylon, just cause it's cheaper for now.  It's about half as good as leather from what I read but 1000 times better than nothing.

Yeah, the textile stuff is usually good for only one bail out, or so I hear.  Did you see the add in the classified section for the Joe Rocket leathers?  $300.00 is a great deal for a set.

No I didn't see it .  Did you mean the classified section on this site?  Or the Whig?  BTW I'm not small guy :)  I'm about 6' and 220 ish lbs  so that equates to an XL jacket and the waist, well I'll keep that secret for now :)  Although I tried some gear on at Tony's today.  The Icon leather jacket is sweet!  But for $600 I'll probably go for the 3 in 1 power trip jacket for half that price.  Unless anyone has some leathers for a decent price and colours that aren't god awful gawdy

You can buy a full set of Joe Rocket leathers from Kneedraggers for around $700 CDN delivered.  They're heavy oldschool style leathers, but they will save your hide at least once and probably several times if you do go down.

Hey Shaman have you bought from them?  I tried on a few jackets today at Tony's  .  The 2xl Icon jacket was too tight yet the Power Trip XL fir perfect.  Is Joe Rocket the same sort of thing?

Joe Rocket tends to be a little less expensive, but probably a step down from ICON in fit and quality.  Their leathers are good quality, but rather heavy (using less expensive, thicker leather).

I have bought from KneeDraggers and I have an acquaintance that works for them since Sam hasn't been the best people person, and decided to improve his image a bit by hiring Steve (MotorToad).  A zip-together set of leathers from them for my size was $675 CDN.

Hornet (a site sponsor) can order you some gear too, if you know what size, etc. that you need.  I don't know if he WILL because it's outside his usual range, but you can always PM him and ask.

I meant the classified section on the site Ron, but I think the stuff would be too small for you.  They are apparently sized for someone 5'10, 170.

+1 on the kneedraggers site though, they have some really good specials from time to time.
