Fast School
« on: January 04, 2006, 05:34:20 pm »
I heard that Fast is filling up quickly for next summer - like booking into August already. Those of you considering doing the school might want to book soon, after this weekends bike show there will probably be slim pickins left for dates to choose.  I personally think FAST is the way to go if you've never been on the track before -- they teach you all the correct technical skills and bring you up to a decent pace gradually over the course of the day.  Even if you have years of street riding experience it is a completely different world at speed on a track so the instruction is a good thing ( it also helps your skills back on the street).  For those who have been on the track before there are lots of groups that offer track days cheaper than Fast if you have a bike to use or rent.

As mentioned before, I'm doing RACE.  FAST doesn't cut it for me, I've been racing other things for years.

But... it might be the right thing for some people I guess.

And yeah it fills up FAST.   ;)

RACE gets you a race license.  It has about twice the track time over the weekend.  It's cheaper.  If you can already ride fairly aggressively and have ridden for a few years, I think it's the one.  And like I said, you get a race license.

What I need is someone to sign me up for some of this... I'm off to the carribean for nearly two weeks tomorrow morning. :/

According to Mercier you can race after completing fast school. They dont hand you a licence at the end of the day so I don't know what is involved afterwards. Perhaps just paperwork. ? Not sure since at 41years old I don't see racing in my future.
Have a nice vacation  >:(

RACE tends to be more like a track day -- more track time less instruction -- but not as unsupervised as a trackday. After FAST you just have to fill out an licence app and pay the fee.  You don't need a licence at all if your intention is just to go to private track days.
